My wife posed a challenge today. Wives do pose a challenge everyday and so what is the big deal? But,this is an unprecedented one atleast for me. She asked if I could write something on our wedding day.

I took up this challenge to write not because it is a least expensive gift but I thought this would be a challenge on its own.

Wedding day is not just another annual day to exchange expensive gifts. Exchange is probably not the right word, wife to receive and husband to give in most households. Wedding day ideally should be a day of reflection on how we have lived our life through.

Married life is essentially a love in evolution and wedding day provides an opportunity for its evaluation.

In months after tying the knots, love and romance start taking the back seat and they turn into rituals of relationship. Love will and should form the back bone on which daily chores, logistics of life, priorities in family and career, parenting, beautiful parental love and parental anxieties build up.

We have no time to think, to realise or to reminisce. Wedding day perhaps gives us the time and space to reflect.

We come through hardships and we are made stronger. We come through turbulences and we stay tight.

A long happy married life is not a fairytale romance to live happily ever after, it is learning to live happily even after. Married life is a voluminous book with new pages written everyday, not a short summary or a reading app.😃

Stay prepared to give in to each other and not to give up on each other. When it comes to an argument, a husband needs to stay prepared to give in and give up.😃

Incidentally, today is the wedding day for the royals, Kate Middleton and William. No matter who we are or where we are, the rules of marriage apply to all. Kate and William are married long enough to agree with me.

As we grow old, we realise and we believe that we both and only, we both are meant for each other and destined to be together.
